Picture Of Arnold Schwarzenegger Goes Viral (Photo)

| by Jonathan Constante

A photo of actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sleeping underneath a statue of himself has gone viral.

Schwarzenegger shared the photo on his Instagram account in January 2016. It shows him tucked into a sleeping bag underneath a massive, bronze statue of himself, People reported.

The photo was captioned "How times have changed." It was taken in front of the former governor's statue in front of the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Ohio.

It is unclear what message Schwarzenegger was trying to convey. The photo quickly went viral, and social media users began circulating unconfirmed theories about the picture.

"The reason he wrote the phrase was not only because he was old, but because when he was governor of California he inaugurated a hotel with his statue," one Instagram user explained. "Hotel staff told Arnold, 'at any moment you can come and have a room reserved for you.' when Arnold stepped down as governor and went to the hotel, the administration refused to give him a room arguing that he should pay for it, since they were in great demand."

"He brought a sleeping bag and stood underneath the statue and explained what he wanted to convey: 'When I was in an important position, they always complimented me, and when I lost this position, they forgot about me and did not keep their promise. Do not trust your position or the amount of money you have, nor your power, nor your intelligence, it will not last,'" the user continued.

This explanation was copied and pasted a few times across other social media platforms, including Facebook. None of it has been confirmed, and several other social media users were skeptical.

"Come on people, he is shooting for a movie in Columbus Ohio and just having fun," wrote one Instagram user. "He is worth $300 million and there is absolutely no sob story behind this picture, take it easy social media. He is a funny guy, THATS IT."

"Arnold you need to do bulk this story that is going all over the internet about this picture!!" added another. "I'm seeing this on LinkedIn lately!! People are saying that you were denied a room at this hotel in California, when this is a Convention Center in Ohio!! Please stop the madness!"

According to Gulte.com, Schwarzenegger was in town shooting for the movie "478" at the time. The film was based on the true story surrounding the aftermath of the July 2002 mid-air collision of two planes in Germany.
